Tennis Tournaments

The annual Club Tennis Tournaments took place over two weekends 3-4 & 17-18 September.  The format was typically a group stage for each tournament with players facing off to get into the semi finals or finals.  Light refreshments, teas and coffees were offered to the players and those supporting.  The winners cups were presented on each day along with some bubbly for the Mixed and Ladies doubles.

The winners were Men's Singles - Jim Flynn, Mixed Doubles - Don Lloyd & Maggie Christie, Ladies Doubles - Maggie Christie & Jane Sillett, and Men's Doubles - Mike Stewart & Aubrey Fox. The weather held out on all four days thankfully.  You can see a sample from the picture of the Ladies Doubles with six pairs and as ever it was keen competition.  We look forward to even more attending next year.

Chairman's Golf Day

This year a new venue, Clandon Regis Golf Club, to host the Chairman's Golf Day. In all 20 players, on what proved to be one of the hottest days in September, and the course was in excellent condition. We started the day with coffee and bacon roll, and finished off with steak pie, chips and veg. Thanks go to Fullers who sponsored the prizes and a couple of complementary drinks and some beers.

Fraser Ritchie's team were the only ones bringing the red poker dot ball back and won the team prize, whilst Steve Kearney and Mickey Claxton were amongst the nearest the pin winners. The overall winner for the day was bandito 'El Tel' Terry Bartlett on 42 points who has now been cut 3 shots.  Chairman Mike Standing presented him with both the Chairman's Shield and Fuller's Cup - well done!
