Links to the Community

Ashtead Squash and Tennis Club work closely with a range of companies, and provide support to local schools and charities.  Organisations we have links with, and details of how we're involved with the local community, are given below.

Leatherhead Youth Project

The Club is sponsoring this project, which is mostly concerned with disadvantaged children and young adults, by providing equipment, sports clothing and tuition in racketball, squash and tennis to several participants.

Ashtead Squash and Tennis Club are keen to support local school sports clubs and work with them to create effective partnerships. We believe that strong links should be developed with the local schools, as there are many benefits to be gained by both the school and the club.

The Olympics and healthy children initiatives has meant that there is a renewed focus on school sports. This is a welcome change from recent years with the ever changing curriculum and financial constraints leaving little time for sporting activities.

As a club we have already made contact with some of the local schools and discussed opportunities for the school to benefit from the clubs facilities. The goal has been to identify how the club and school can work together and complement one another with the goal of increasing opportunities for children.

Working together with the schools, parents and coaches to offer children and young people the opportunities adopt active, healthy lifestyles, at an early age that they take into adulthood.

Out of school hours activities and clubs

There is the opportunity for after school clubs to use the Ashtead Squash and Tennis clubs facilities. We have successfully run taster sessions for the schools and children that has helped promote the sports played in the club.

West Ashtead Primary School

Links with the school extend back many years, and we continue to host occasional parents meetings, advertise in their Summer Fete magazine, and offer incentives for the children to take part in sports at the Club.
